The waves are made with cutout pieces and the Otter is set in the front of then. There are carvings made on the piece depicting the scene.

These gorgeous Otter earrings has been hand carved by Tlingit artist Fred Myra. He has used sterling silver to create these dangle earrings. They depict the Otter legend among ocean waves.

Each of the earrings measures 1.1/8" (3cm) x 2" (5 cm) including the hooks.
