Since graduating with honours from the Jewellery Arts Program at George Brown College in 1992, Lisa Ridout has been dedicated to producing the fine art of handcrafted, precious metal chains. Lisa is known as a leader in her craft, honouring and continuing a traditional art form at threat of becoming a lost art. The traditional skill of chain making is a delicate and time-consuming craft.
Lisa's chains are entirely handmade by drawing silver into wire form of varied thickness, then she turns and weaves the wire rings into delicate patterns. Drawing on historical patterns as well as new combinations of her own creation. She also blends Swarovski crystal and pearls into her pieces, creating glamorous works of wearable art.
Lisa lives with her husband and three children in Toronto, Ontario where she works out of her studio.
