Jake was born in Comox on Vancouver Island and comes from a family of musicians and artists. Since childhood he has been drawn to rocks and fossils. Age 16, he moved to Alberta with his family where he began his work restoring fossils. He worked on many Ammonite fossils becoming very familiar with the material. In exchange for some stones he cut, he was given three lessons in wire wrapping. From there he began to teach himself silver and gold smithing. Jake works with the finer grades of ammolite and rhodium plated sterling silver. He particularly enjoys working with blue and purple tones, which are the most rare and highly sought after.
