Hollie Bartlett was born in 1963 into the Haisla Nation near Terrace, British Columbia.
Hollie's initial interest in art began at an early age, leading her to Vancouver in 1985 to work as a photographer for the Indigenous newspaper, Kahtou. Hollie continued to define her unique artistic vision through her photography, later in graphic art, and currently through her jewellery.
In 1998, Hollie began a four year apprenticeship with master carver, Corrine Hunt. Corrine was instrumental in introducing Hollie to the Kwakwaka’wakw art of engraving. Hollie has since apprenticed with Michael Reynolds, a renowned goldsmith. The inspiration and artful instruction she received has resulted in Hollie's distinct style; combining silver and gold, stone setting, texture, and inlay. Her artwork tells stories without words through the flow of design and the spirituality of traditional carving.
Hollie currently lives and works in Vancouver, British Columbia.
