Alex Helin, son of Tsimshian artist Bill Helin, was born November 11, 1987 in Nanaimo, British Columbia. His great grandparents Maude and Henry Helin were both Chiefs of the Tsimshian Nation.
Alex is a very talented artist that started out assisting his father in the art world since he was six years old. At the age of eight he was the youngest carver to work on the world’s tallest totem pole for the Commonwealth Games in Victoria, British Columbia.
Alex is now creating original pieces of gold and silver engraved jewellery. His high end art pieces in the tradition of his Tsimshian ancestors are now found in the possession of collectors all over the world.
