Ron Jackson

Ron Jackson

Ron Jackson (TSIMSHIAN NATION) was born October 23, 1971 to Robert and Gail Jackson in Prince Rupert, BC. He began learning the art of carving from his father, an accomplished wood carver. The tools that Ron uses for his trade were passed down from his great uncle, Arthur McDames, another prevalent Indigenous artist. In 1994, Ron made the decision to pursue his passion of becoming a full time carver. He enrolled in the Jewellery Fabrication and Repair Program at Vancouver Community College and graduated the program with distinction. His Tsimshian roots are evident in his work and Ron’s expressive and deep carving style in silver and gold has earned him an enviable reputation in the Northwest Coast art community. Ron Jackson’s work is available through Artina’s Jewellery, Victoria and Vancouver, BC, Canada.
