Salmon

Good Luck, Dance of Life

The Northwest Coast people depend on the salmon. It is the main source of their diet and is a symbol of prosperity, steadfastness and dependability. Salmon represents determination, intuition and respect for tradition.

Tsimshian native legends tell of the Salmon people who lived in the sea in several villages. In spring, they changed from human form and began their journey across the ocean to the Skeena River.
